THE SILENT YEARS PART 5 - LET YOUR HAIR DOWN

It has been 5 long years since I last wrote. In the next 5 blogs, I will attempt to abridge the essence of those silent years - part 5

For me, Bible Study bears a serious connotation. It is mind blogging as we are told to dig deep and deeper into the Word. Kneeling is also hard work which needs great faith and perseverance. Sharing is equally laborious as we need to think hard and harder to lay down issues from the heart.

But it is in the games, meals and outings that I am most at ease.  Not that there are no difficult tasks or challenges in these social activities. But you focus on these activities and unknowingly, you let your hair down and just be who you are.

THE SILENT YEARS PART 4 - THE OTHER SIDE

It has been 5 long years since I last wrote. In the next 5 blogs, I will attempt to abridge the essence of those silent years - part 4

7 to 9 Aug 2016
Most of us love the king of fruits which was a perfect lure to sign up for a trip across the straits.

On arrival, we were like kids overwhelmed with excitement, like some bunch of country bumpkins awed by its metropolitan sights and sounds.

Some lazed around window shopping. Some spaed and massaged and blissfully forgotten about dinner time. Others including the shepherd waited patiently for all the sheep to gather to bring them to new pastures…..

Tour guided by Pastor Frederick, Choon Bee and Sean, 15 of us had a great time of feasting on a wide variety of delicious local hawker fare, snacks and durians of course.

In a spacious 2 storey house tucked away at a remote corner of a large condo compound, Choon Bee hosted us to warm fellowship and a buffet of home made dishes

31 Dec 2016 to 2 Jan 2017
5 of us retreated 2016 with thanksgiving and stood at the threshold of the new year with prayers, praise and worship thanks again to the hospitality and generosity of Choon Bee and Sean.

The celebration was punctuated with fireworks which we watched through the windows in the comfort of the home.

THE SILENT YEARS PART 3 - THE NIGHT WAS YOUNG

It has been 5 long years since I last wrote. In the next 5 blogs, I will attempt to abridge the essence of those silent years - part 3

Bintan trip from 17 to 18 Oct 2015

It was one of those travel outings organised by Normantan CG.

Several Clementi CGers could not give this a miss for whatever reasons.

Food galore.

On arrival, we were shepherded up the bus to visit a local factory where they were beckoning us with bites and tickling our tummies with must tries..

On the way to lunch, they handed out piping hot curry puffs.

And bananas..

An odd combination if I might say.

But they were yummy because I seldom decline any  food offer

Dinner was BBQ seafood and spicy Indonesian cuisine...

Beautiful resort with beach, swimming pool...
Great company.

All was as promised and more......
After the delectable dinner, we adjourned to the K room.
When the lights deemed and cameras rolled, many were holding mikes like pros belching out oldies and serenading songs of yesteryears and evergreens.

They entertained with such gusto and nostalgia that I was at once transported back to the 60s with
Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling In Love and Love Me Tender,
Frank Sinatra's My Way,
Hank Williams' Your Cheating Heart
and many more...

The euphoria was heightened to such a climax that many broke out in dance in rhythm to the tempo and beat of rock and roll and the twist. How low can you go?

Wow! Wow! Wow! The night was really really really young.
