We were totally blessed to see 2 rainbows simultaneously; the normal quarter one was bouncing off the huge semicircle rainbow. They were radiating the full spectrum of vibrant and spectacular colors. A picturesque postcard. A unique and unforgettable experience. It refreshes the inner being.
It relates me to the old testament when God said He will not to destroy the earth again with another flood when we see a rainbow after the rain; It reminds of His presence and faithfulness when we see a silver lining after every storm.
To remember the sequence of colours of the rainbow from inside out, use VIBGYOR(Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red)
I would encourage you to try the Shalom Kelong@Batam
(next probable trip is the Hari Raya Haji weekend 26 to 28 Oct 2012, Fri to
Sun)
You will not regret it. You will not be short changed.
If not the rainbow, then maybe the full blast of
brightly lit, twinkles of numerous stars contrasting the dark skies. Keep a
look out for shooting stars, they really exist!
“Shalom” means peace, and the name already emits a soothing
calmness and exudes aromatic fragrance. It is a place where you can relax and
rejuvenate physically and spiritually too.
It is not the conventional kelong you have in mind; a flimsy
offshore platform with barest minimum smack right in the middle of nowhere. You
can still recognize the familiar “kelong” structure with the sturdy stilts
rising strongly and majestically out of the water. Instead of surrounded by the
rough oceanic seas, it is serenely hugging the shore. The shalom kelong is
built on stilts near the shore of an island.
For S$250 per pax, you have 3D2N to soak in the sea
and forest view and digest 9 sumptuous meals including fresh sashimis. Each room,
called the cottage is complete with a double bed, fan and attached bathroom
with cold shower. It is spacious enough to accommodate a triple or a family of
4 with the provision of a large mattress.
If you are game enough, try your hand at jetty or boat
fishing, squid catching, scallop and sea urchin picking. For the more
adventurous, snorkel around the jetty, walk the 15 minute forest trail up to
the top, go night fishing or take a spin on the banana boat.
Or just laze around, catch a nap, read a book, sip your tea, walk the beach.
